Explosions in Ternopil on August 20: what is known
The explosions in Ternopil thundered around three in the morning on August 20.
Immediately after that, the sky became thick with black smoke.
At first, the regional military administration did not comment on what happened in Ternopil, only urging people not to publish photos, videos and not to spread unofficial information.
Subsequently, the Regional Military Administration advised locals to limit their time outside (especially children) and close the windows indoors when planning the day.

As it became known, the explosion in Ternopil was the result of a hostile attack by the Russian Federation on an industrial facility.
In particular, one of the tanks where fuel and lubricants were stored was hit.
More than 90 rescuers and 21 units of equipment were sent to fight the fire.
In particular, two fire engines from Ternopil and Lviv were involved.
At 06:50, representatives of the State Emergency Service managed to localize the fire in Ternopil, preventing the fire from spreading.
As the deputy head of the regional military administration, Viktor Ustenko, specified on the air of the national telethon, currently the pollution indicators are not exceeded, because the smoke after the fire in Ternopil rose into the upper layers of the atmosphere.
In the morning, specialists made seven measurements of the content of combustion products in Ternopil and the region.
No high concentrations of harmful substances were detected.
Specialists also took drinking water samples.
The fire control area in Ternopil is constantly being increased.
