Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has once again urged the European Commission to impose further sanctions and completely blockade trade with Russia. He made his statement during the press conference on Saturday, March 19.

When answering the question about the protests along the border against the supply of goods to Belarus and Russia and the likelihood of EU leaders deciding to close European roads to trucks from Russia, Morawiecki expressed hope that “there will be another reality check for European leaders” and that the EU Council would adopt another package of sanctions.

— I am totally on the protesters’ side and once again call on the European Commission to activate its powers as soon as possible. Poland suggests that a trade blockade is included in this package of sanctions as soon as possible, targeting seaports as well as overland trade ban, – he said.

According to him, this step would “again make Russia think that it would be best to end this brutal war”.

He added that it was a matter of life and death for dozens, if not hundreds of thousands of people, the sovereign nation of Ukraine, and NATO security.

— We must show our strength and determination to Russia, otherwise we will be bound to pay a higher price in the near future, – Morawiecki said.

On Saturday, activists renewed the blockade of trailer trucks returning from Europe to Belarus and Russia at the Poland-Belarus border crossing in Koroszczyn, Lublin Voivodeship. By morning, the line of trucks had stretched 27 kilometers. The police set up a buffer zone separating protesters from the trucks.
