Peacekeepers in Ukraine will lead to a direct confrontation between Russia and NATO – Lavrov
Russian Foreign Minister Serhiy Lavrov said today that sending peacekeepers to Ukraine could lead to a direct confrontation between Russia and NATO.
This was stated by the Russian Foreign Minister to students of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations.
According to him, in Poland they are talking about the need to send a peacekeeping contingent to Ukraine.
Our Polish colleagues have already stated that there would be a NATO summit now, and peacekeepers should be sent. I hope they understand what is at stake. It will be the same direct clash between the Russian and NATO armed forces, which everyone not only wanted to avoid, but said that it should never happen, – Lavrov said.
Earlier, the Polish government speaker Piotr Mueller said that Poland intends to present its offer on the introduction of a peacekeeping mission to Ukraine at the NATO summit, as well as at a meeting of the European Council.
