Britain imposed sanctions against the representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and Ilya Kiva

On Thursday Britain added 26 more individuals and entities to the list of sanctions against Russia, including the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense Igor Konashenkov and the chairman of the board of the Russian Railways Oleg Belozyorov.
The head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Aleksandr Chupriyan, and the first deputy chief of the General Staff, Nikolay Bogdanovsky, also fell under sanctions. The list of sanctions included the wife of businessman Herman Khan Anzhelika.
There is a Lieutenant Colonel Azatbek Omurbekov, the so-called Butcher of Buchan, on the list. He is the commander of the unit that occupied Bucha in the Kyiv region, and his troops committed war crimes.
Ilya Kiva, a former people’s deputy from the Opposition Platform for Life Party, was sanctioned.
– He supported and facilitated the Russian invasion in Ukraine. Thus, Kiva is a person that supports or facilitates policies or actions that destabilize Ukraine, undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty or independence of Ukraine, – the explanation of the British government says.
Sanctions have come into force, including against 10 structures. In particular, the sanctions affected the production enterprise PROMTEH-Dubna, as well as the Kalashnikov concern.
Those affected by the sanctions are subject to an asset freeze and a ban on visiting the United Kingdom.
It would be a criminal offense for these persons or businesses to fly or land aircraft, which means that the UK will, under such circumstances, seize aircraft belonging to sanctioned persons, even if a sanctioned person is on board. Russian ships are also banned from visiting UK ports.
The day before, the court allowed an investigation in absentia against Ilya Kiva on suspicion of high treason and his anti-Ukrainian actions. He was informed of suspicion of high treason and violation of territorial integrity, propaganda of war and calls for a violent change of power.
