Biden nominated Bridget Brink as US Ambassador to Ukraine

US President Joe Biden nominated Bridget Brink for the post of US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine.

– Today, President Biden announces his intention to appoint Bridget A. Brink, a veteran American diplomat, to the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine, – the White House website said in a statement.

She is currently the US Ambassador to Slovakia. Prior to that, she served as a senior adviser and deputy assistant secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs of the US Department of State.

Brink reportedly devoted 25 years of her diplomatic career to advancing U.S. policy in Europe and Asia.

Brink holds an MA in International Relations and Political Theory from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a BA in Political Science from Kenyon College. She speaks Russian and has learned Slovak, Serbian, Georgian and French.

For the first time, information about the alleged appointment of Bridget Brink as the US Ambassador to Ukraine appeared in December 2021. In particular, then Kyiv received a request from Washington regarding her appointment as ambassador to Ukraine. This information was confirmed by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
