Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hopes that on his initiative, talks between Ukrainian and Russian leaders Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin will take place in the coming days.
This was stated by Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar after a meeting of the Advisory Group on Defense and Security for Ukraine with the participation of more than 40 countries, which took place the day before at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
According to him, it is necessary to open the way for diplomacy with a moderate approach to find peaceful solutions.
– President Erdogan has repeatedly met with Putin and Zelensky. At these meetings, he is trying to get a ceasefire as soon as possible and sit down at the negotiating table. We hope that despite some difficulties, in the coming days, perhaps with the proposals of the President of Turkey, the two leaders will be able to come together, – he said.
Akar assured that Turkey would continue to contribute, including through mediation, to ensure that the humanitarian situation does not deteriorate and that a ceasefire is reached as soon as possible.
