Biden is asking Congress for $ 33 billion for Ukraine
President Joe Biden will ask Congress for $ 33 billion to fund humanitarian and military assistance to Ukraine by September 2022.
The massive aid package will be accompanied by a proposal to Congress to amend several long-standing criminal laws to make it easier for the United States to seize the assets of sanctioned Russian oligarchs.
– The cost of failing to resist violent aggression in Europe has always been higher than the cost of resisting such attacks, – Biden said.
The $ 33 billion request includes $ 20.4 billion in military and security assistance. It is designed to equip Kyiv and its European partners with modern weapons, protection against cyber threats, as well as to clear mines and other explosive devices.
$ 8.5 billion will be used to support the Ukrainian economy.
