The United Kingdom will send to Ukraine the M270 multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) capable of hitting targets at 80 kilometres.
CNN reported this with reference to the statement of the Minister of Defense of the United Kingdom, Ben Wallace.
According to him, the M270 launchers will significantly increase the capabilities of the Ukrainian armed forces.
– The UK stands with Ukraine and has taken a leading role in supplying its heroic troops with the vital weapons they need to defend their country, – Wallace said.
He noted that as Russian’s tactics change, so must support to Ukraine.
– These highly capable multiple-launch rocket systems will enable our Ukrainian friends to better protect themselves against Russia’s brutal use of long-range artillery, which Putin’s forces have used indiscriminately to flatten cities, – he added.
The British government has stated that the Ukrainian military will be trained in using these launchers.
We will recall that the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, addressed US President Joe Biden to sign a plan on a supply to Ukraine US-made M270 MLRS within a few weeks.
The US Presidential Administration has confirmed the transfer of HIMARS MLRS and ammunition to Ukraine as part of a new military aid package.
