The US Congress will develop criteria for recognizing the Russian Federation as a sponsor of terrorism – State Department

The US Congress will develop criteria for recognizing Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism.
This was announced by the official representative of the US State Department, Andrea Kalan, on the air of the FreeDom TV channel.
– When it comes to counterterrorism, as Secretary of State Blinken said, there are specific criteria, and we need to follow these criteria to recognize a country as a sponsor of terrorism. Our Congress will establish these criteria, – she said.
Kalan argues that recognizing Russia as a sponsor of terrorism will not significantly affect the sanctions already in place against it.
– And, as Blinken said, if the Russian Federation is recognized as a sponsor of terrorism, it will not significantly change the sanctions against it. Because the sanctions that already exist are similar to those applied when a country is identified as a sponsor of terrorism, – added the representative of the State Department.
It will be recalled that the US Senate recently unanimously approved a non-binding resolution calling on Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to recognize Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism due to its actions in Chechnya, Georgia, Syria, and Ukraine, which have led to “the deaths of countless innocent men, women, and children.” .
