The United Nations has the logistical and security capacity to support a visit by International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, if Ukraine and Russia agree.
This was stated by UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric. Since the beginning of August, the Russian army has been constantly shelling the Zaporizhzhіa NPP, which is the largest nuclear reactor in Europe.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken accused Russian troops of using the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant as a “nuclear shield”.
The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Mariano Grossi, called the shelling of the ZNPP by the Russian army a serious threat to the health of the population, the environment in Ukraine and other countries, describing the situation as completely uncontrollable.
