A cargo ship with grain, which was on its way from Ukraine, ran aground near Istanbul. Because of this, shipping in the Bosphorus Strait was temporarily suspended.
This is the first such incident since the adoption of the grain agreement in July, Turkish media reports.
According to the Istanbul Governorate, the Liberian-flagged ship Lady Zehma anchored in Bebek Bay on the evening of September 1 because its rudder failed.
The team of the Main Directorate of Coast Guard, rescue tugs and boats were sent to the scene of the incident.
They decided to suspend traffic through the Bosphorus. As a result of the incident, there were no deaths or injuries, and there was no environmental pollution. The ship Lady Zehma was on its way from Chornomorsk to Ravenna, Italy.
