The withdrawal of Russian troops from Kherson undermines confidence among ideologues in Russia in Volodymyr Putin’s commitment and ability to fulfill his military promises.

This is reported by analysts of the American Institute for the Study of War.

Russian war ideologist Oleksandr Dugin openly criticized Putin, calling him an autocrat for not supporting Russian ideology by surrendering Kherson.

According to Dugin, Russian ideology defines Russia’s responsibility to protect “Russian cities”: Kherson, Belgorod, Kursk, Donetsk, and Simferopol.

Dugin said that the autocrat is fully and completely responsible for saving his nation, otherwise, he will have to face the fate of the Rain King – a reference to James Fraser’s novel The Golden Bough, in which the king was killed because he could not make it rain in the middle of a drought.

Dugin also believes that the commander of Russian troops in Ukraine, General Serhiy Surovikin, is not responsible for the political decision to withdraw from Kherson.

Dugin also accused the presidential administration of upholding a false ideology out of fear of adherence to the Russian idea.

The Russian ideologist also believes that the belated military decisions of the Russian leadership did not affect the course of the war. According to Dugin, Russia should stick to the Russian idea and not engage in the “stupid use of nuclear weapons”.
