Poland will not transfer Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. This was announced by Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak.
According to him, the corresponding decision was made after a conversation with the Minister of Defense of Germany, Christine Lambrecht.
– After the conversation, with disappointment, I decide to abandon the plans. The deployment of Patriot in the western regions of Ukraine would strengthen the security of Poles and Ukrainians, – the minister emphasizes.
Recently, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksii Reznikov, announced new supplies of military equipment from Western partners, in particular, tanks and missile systems, but this will take time.
According to him, Patriot is a medium-range air defense system, while NASAMS or IRIS-T is a short-range one. Everything is going gradually, Patriot systems are very complex, expensive and very slow in terms of production, Reznikov noted.
