More air defense funds are promised: the G7 will create a platform for coordinating financial assistance to Ukraine

The leaders of the Group of Seven will continue to support Ukraine, particularly financially and militarily.
This is stated in the joint statement of the G7 heads of state following the online meeting that took place on Monday, December 12.
The leaders of the Group of Seven condemned Russia’s strikes on the civil and energy infrastructure of Ukraine, and also promised help in restoring damaged facilities.
– There should be no impunity for war crimes and other atrocities. We will bring President Putin and those involved in this to justice in accordance with international law, – the statement emphasizes.
To support Ukraine’s recovery, the G7 leaders will create a “multilateral donor coordination platform together with Ukraine and international partners.”
-With the help of this platform, we will coordinate existing mechanisms to provide ongoing short-term and long-term support, – the statement explains.
The platform will establish a secretariat and appoint representatives from G7 governments, whose first meeting is planned for January 2023.
In addition, the leaders of the Group of Seven promise to continue to coordinate efforts to meet Ukraine’s urgent needs in military and defense equipment, “paying special attention to providing Ukraine with air defense systems and means.”
