Hungary changes its mind about blocking the next tranche of EU military aid to Ukraine

Hungary will not block the next tranche of military aid to Ukraine from the European Union.

This was reported by Radio Liberty correspondent Rikard Jozwiak on Twitter.

– Finally, Hungary announced today during a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels that it would not block the next tranche of EU military aid to Ukraine.

Earlier it was reported that Budapest was blocking a €500 million tranche of EU aid to Ukraine.

On January 23, EU foreign ministers meet in Brussels. The agenda includes a discussion of further military support for Ukraine, including the possible provision of German Leopard tanks to Ukraine, as announced by EU High Representative Josep Borrell before the meeting.

During his online speech at the event, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba called for negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU to begin this year.

Kuleba reminded that Ukraine is finalizing the implementation of the European Commission’s recommendations and expects a positive report from the European Commission this spring.
