The Japanese government has approved additional sanctions against Russia

The Japanese government approved additional sanctions against Russia in response to its military aggression against Ukraine.
The restrictive measures were approved at a cabinet meeting on Friday, January 27, Japanese public broadcaster NHK reported.
According to NHK, the new sanctions include:
- freezing the assets of three organizations and 36 individuals associated with the Russian government and pro-Russian groups in Ukraine;
- an export ban on another 49 organizations, including Russian aircraft repair plants;
- adding additional goods to the list prohibited for export to the Russian Federation;
After the meeting with journalists, the Deputy Chief Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers, Seiji Kihara, spoke, stating that Japan will continue to work with the international community and support Ukraine.
Earlier it became known that the European Union extended sectoral economic sanctions against Russia until July 31 of this year.
The sanctions cover a wide range of sectoral measures, including restrictions on trade, finance, technology and dual-use goods, industry, transport and luxury goods.
