Starting September 1, Russia will teach schoolchildren to shoot automatic weapons and throw grenades

Starting September 1, 2023, basic military training will become a mandatory part of the curriculum in Russian schools.
Schoolchildren will be taught how to use AK series assault rifles and hand grenades.
The training module as part of the Basic Life Safety course will also include preparation for military training and the use of personal protective equipment.
It should be noted that the innovations will eventually apply to students of higher education institutions as well, as in December, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation announced the program Fundamentals of Military Training.
According to the UK Ministry of Defense intelligence, such Russian initiatives are evidence of an increasingly militarized atmosphere in Russia during the war against Ukraine.
– In addition, this is probably a deliberate reference to the Soviet Union, as such training was compulsory in schools until 1993, British intelligence officials believe.
The full-scale war in Ukraine has been going on for 340 days.
