The Ukrainian military will start training on Leopard 2 tanks next week – FT

Ukrainian soldiers will begin training on Leopard 2 tanks next week as part of an EU-funded training mission as Kyiv’s allies look to recruit them to work on the frontline ahead of a likely renewed Russian offensive this spring.
This was reported by the Financial Times with reference to two anonymous officials familiar with the details of this topic.
According to the publication, everything is ready to start training the Ukrainian military on modern battle tanks.
Berlin’s decision to send the German-made Leopard 2 was a turning point in the West’s support for Ukraine, which agreed to transfer a large number of modern NATO main battle tanks to it.
However, this decision apparently outraged the Kremlin, in particular, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin warned the West about the consequences of supporting Kyiv. According to him, the Russian Federation seems to be threatened by German tanks, but the Leopard was handed over only to protect Ukraine and free it from Russian invaders.
A successful campaign to provide Ukraine with tanks has inspired some of Kyiv’s EU allies to push for new supplies of advanced weapons such as fighter jets and long-range missiles.
