Russia forcibly detains at least 6,000 Ukrainian children in order to carry out political re-education.

This was reported by The Guardian with reference to a report by American researchers.

In particular, researchers from Yale University have identified at least 43 camps and other facilities in occupied Crimea and Russia where Ukrainian children were held as part of a “large-scale systematic network” run by the Russian Federation after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Children held in these facilities included those with parents or official guardians, as well as minors considered orphans by Russia and other children who were in the care of Ukrainian state institutions before the invasion in 2022.

Some children were adopted by Russian families or transferred to foster families in the Russian Federation, the researchers noted in the report. Yes, the youngest child identified is only four months old, and some camps teach children as young as 14.

Researcher Nathaniel Raymond stated that these facts are a clear violation of the Geneva Convention. According to him, this can also be proof that Russia committed genocide during the war in Ukraine, since the change or destruction of national identity is an integral part of this crime.
