Putin’s choice is limited: lose or go to negotiations – the former head of the CIA

Full-scale war in Ukraine will end this year because Russian dictator Vladimir Putin will be forced to choose between total failure and negotiations that he can try to sell to Russian citizens as even a partial success.

This was stated by the former head of the CIA and the US Department of Defense, Leon Panetta. According to him, intelligence predicted an invasion of the Russian army.

– I have known Putin for a long time. I know who he is, what his methods are, but I’ve never thought that he’s just a fool before. I was surprised that he chose to invade a sovereign democratic country like other tyrants who are remembered primarily as people who made bad choices.

According to him, American intelligence predicted an invasion by Putin, who was counting on a quick operation, but the Ukrainians were prepared and resisted, so Russia’s quick victory became a mirage.

– Putin put all of Russia on the line. He knew that he would pay for his move, because the USA and NATO would introduce serious sanctions. It has already affected the economy and people’s lives. It was clear that the West would give the Ukrainians weapons and increase the scale of training of Ukrainian soldiers. Putin’s stated fear that Ukraine would join NATO has backfired, as the alliance is now not only much more compact than it was a year ago, but is also expanding with Sweden and Finland. For all these reasons, his decision to invade was senseless, – he believes.
