Berlin to hand over two Skynex systems to Kyiv: delivery dates announced

Germany will send two Skynex short-range air defense systems to Ukraine.
This was announced by Armin Papperger, Chief Executive Officer of Rheinmetall, the manufacturer.
He said that the systems were ordered by the German government and will be delivered to Ukraine within a year. Their cost is about €200 million.
Papperger said that otherwise these systems would have been used to protect Berlin.
What do you know about Skynex?
Skynex provides protection against air threats of various types – from missiles and drones to aircraft and helicopters – and is one of the latest developments of the Rheinmetall Group.
This air defense system fires AHEAD programmable projectiles, which makes it particularly effective at engaging small airborne targets.
One to three 35-mm programmable shells are enough to effectively destroy one small UAV, with the cost of one such shell currently standing at around €4,000. The effective range is up to 4.5 km.
