The judge of the Hague court told what is needed to create a tribunal against Putin

The establishment of a tribunal against President Putin and other war criminals requires a successful vote in the UN General Assembly.
This was stated by the judge of the People’s Court in The Hague, Steven Repp, on the air of the telethon.
– Ukraine has the right to consider the crime of aggression. But Ukraine cannot judge Putin. Gerasimova – yes, maybe even Shoigu. But not the head of state and not even the prime minister. And that is why an international court is needed.
All that is needed for this is a vote in the UN General Assembly. Russia will certainly promise to create such a court by the UN Security Council. But they do not have the right of veto in the General Assembly, – he said.
The judge noted that Russia was one of seven countries that voted against the latest resolution in the General Assembly.
– It is clear that they will vote against this one as well. But they cannot stop it, because such a decision can be made outside the Security Council, this is a successful formula, – said Stephen Rapp.
Ukraine needs to enlist the support not only of the EU countries, but also of other world leaders. At least 90 votes are needed to put Putin on trial. But this does not mean that the current president of Russia will be immediately taken into custody.
– Will such a tribunal be able to immediately take Putin into custody? No. But the very presence of accusations will already make him an international criminal. If the international community is consistent, then Putin will either die as an exile who cannot go anywhere, or will come to The Hague.
With such crimes, I hope we will see him here, as was the case with those who thought they would escape punishment, – the judge noted.
We will remind, on March 5, the adviser to the head of the President’s Office, Mykhailo Podoliak, said that Ukraine, the Baltic states, Poland, Romania and Slovenia signed an initiative agreement on the creation of a tribunal for Putin and other perpetrators of the war.
