A significant part of it is military training: Lithuania is preparing a new aid package for Ukraine

The Lithuanian government is preparing a new military aid package for Ukraine. In particular, Vilnius has already provided Kyiv with assistance worth almost €409 million.
This was announced by the Minister of National Defense of Lithuania Arvydas Anušauskas. He met with First Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavliuk in Lithuania.
– The lessons learned in Ukraine help us to develop our military capabilities in a targeted manner. We are also firmly committed to supporting Ukraine with all our capabilities and are preparing a new support package,” Anusauskas said at the meeting.
So far, Lithuania has provided Ukraine with military support worth almost €409 million. A new package of support is now being formed.
A significant part of Lithuania’s support for Ukraine consists of military training. This year, it is planned to train 1,600 Ukrainian soldiers.
Lithuanian army instructors train Ukrainians both at the national level, in Lithuania, and by joining the EU training mission and international initiatives such as Interflex. There are also plans to organize demining courses in Lithuania together with other countries.
Minister Anušauskas emphasized that Lithuania is intensively preparing for the NATO summit to be held this summer in Vilnius, where, among other important issues, an agreement on Ukraine’s membership prospects will be sought.
