We are investigating the scope and probable consequences: the Pentagon is investigating the “leak” of secret documents

The US Department of Defense is trying to determine the scale of an alleged leak of classified information that became known recently.
This was announced by US Assistant Secretary of Defense Chris Meagher. According to him, the publication of documents on the Internet is a very serious threat to national security, which can lead to the spread of disinformation.
However, he declined to comment on whether the documents were genuine. Meagher noted that the Pentagon is studying the issue. The representative of the Pentagon said that the US Ministry of Defense is working around the clock to establish the extent of the leak and the likely consequences.
– We are currently investigating how it happened, investigating the scale of the problem. Steps have been taken to look more closely at how and to whom this type of information is shared. We are also still trying to assess what might be there, – says the assistant to the head of the Pentagon.
Meagher noted that US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was first informed of the leak on April 6. Over the weekend, U.S. officials contacted allies and partners who may have been affected.
According to him, documents of this format are probably used for reports to senior management, but some information has been changed.
