It will significantly help bring Russia to justice: Zelensky on PACE decision

An important political result in Strasbourg at the PACE session was the adoption of a resolution that recognizes that Russia’s deportation of Ukrainian children constitutes genocide. This decision will significantly help the global effort to bring Russia and its officials, including Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, to justice for its genocidal policy against Ukraine.
This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy following the 428th day of the full-scale war.
– “The deportation of Ukrainian children is one of the well-thought-out elements of Russia’s attempts to erase the identity of our people, to destroy the very essence of Ukrainians. This is a deliberate crime of genocide committed by Russian officials – this is how it should be qualified both politically and legally,” the Head of State noted.
Zelenskyy drew attention to the fact that today the First Lady of Ukraine addressed the PACE on children and families.
According to him, Ukrainian parliamentarians and diplomats have worked well at all levels – formal and informal, with state leaders, at the governmental and law enforcement levels, in the legal community, international and inter-parliamentary organizations.
The President emphasized that the Ukrainian side would continue to work to return all deported children and punish the Russian Federation.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine knows for sure about almost 20 thousand children who were taken to different regions of the aggressor state, but there may be more such cases.
At the same time, the debris removal at the site of a missile strike in Mykolaiv has been completed: one person was killed and more than 20 others were injured. There was also a strike on Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region: there are victims, a school and a hospital were damaged.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the Ukrainian military who are defending Ukraine in different directions from the Russian enemy.
