Scholz: Germany does not plan to participate in coalition of fighter jets for Ukraine

After the Council of Europe summit in Reykjavik, Chancellor Olaf Scholz said whether Germany would participate in a coalition of fighter jets for Ukraine.
– There are no requirements for us (to participate in a fighter jet coalition – Ed.). The question is not as urgent as it is being raised,” the German politician said.
He also assured that Germany sees no pressure in the discussion on the supply of modern aircraft to Ukraine, while Berlin is focused on the transfer of other weapons.
According to him, Germany continues to focus on tanks, ammunition and air defence systems.
– These things are very important for Ukraine’s ability to defend itself. Germany has already made further commitments in these areas,” Scholz added.
The day before, the Prime Ministers of the UK and the Netherlands – Rishi Sunak and Mark Rutte – agreed to work on a coalition to purchase F-16 fighter jets for Ukraine.
