In order to end the war in Ukraine and strengthen the security architecture in the world, two points of the Peace Formula should be fulfilled, as well as the United Nations institutions should be reformed.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday, September 20, during a speech at a meeting of the UN Security Council.
The Head of State announced two points of concrete actions to be taken to strengthen the global security architecture.
The first step is the complete withdrawal of Russian troops and the Navy from the legally recognized territory of Ukraine.
– “First, the complete withdrawal of all Russian troops and military formations, including the Russian Black Sea Fleet or those leaky troughs that will remain from it during the war, as well as the withdrawal of all Russian mercenaries and quasi-military formations from the entire sovereign territory of Ukraine within our internationally recognized borders of 1991,” the president said.
The second point of strengthening the global security architecture, the head of state called the full return of Ukraine’s effective control over its entire state border and exclusive economic zone in the Black and Azov Seas, as well as in the Kerch Strait.
According to the President of Ukraine, only the fulfillment of these two points will result in a fair, reliable and complete cessation of hostilities.
– The epicenter of such work should be this hall – the hall of the UN Security Council and, to an even greater extent, the hall of the General Assembly. If this requires reform of the UN institutions, then we should not be afraid of reform. We are ready to work together with the UN members participating in the Peace Formula on relevant draft resolutions and amendments to the UN Charter,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
As a reminder, during his speech at the UN Security Council, Zelenskyy also called for UN reform.
