A new quality of defense industries is needed: Kuleba on the supply of EU ammunition to Ukraine

The European Union is unlikely to be able to fulfill its promise to provide Ukraine with one million artillery shells by March 2024. However, the European Union is working to eliminate bureaucratic problems that may stand in the way.
This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba in a comment to the host of the telethon Vadym Karpyak. According to him, Ukrainian diplomacy talks a lot and loudly rings the bells to resolve the issue.
– The reason is the deplorable state of the defense industry, which can produce a sufficient number of shells, the state of warehouses and the ability to conclude foreign contracts, – the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine claims.
The minister drew attention to the fact that there are currently many obstacles, and some of them are also unsynchronized. The member states of the European Union are working to eliminate a number of bureaucratic problems.
Kuleba called on the EU to develop a comprehensive policy in the field of the defense industry. In his opinion, a new quality of work of defense industries is needed to protect the whole of Europe. In particular, it is necessary to eliminate all obstacles and establish a clear process.
The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, noted that the EU continues to aim to supply Ukraine with a certain amount of ammunition.
According to him, the EU is trying to achieve this goal in three ways. Among them is the supply of 300,000 ammunition from existing stocks and export from third countries to Ukraine. The European Union is now trying to increase production capacity.
