The Czech Republic will demand sanctions against Medvedchuk in the new EU package

The Czech Republic will demand that the EU include in the 14th package of sanctions Viktor Medvedchuk, the publication Voice of Europe and his employee Artem Marchevsky because of their involvement in a pro-Russian network of influence on MEPs.
This was stated by the head of the Czech Foreign Ministry, Jan Lipavsky, during a visit to Brussels on April 3.
Sanctions against Medvedchuk in the new EU package
According to him, after the Czech Republic introduced sanctions against Medvedchuk, a corresponding proposal was also made at the EU level.
– Our law says that we must propose sanctions at the European level. So this is exactly what our diplomats are doing now. And it depends only on the Brussels institutes how they will comply with our proposal – explained Lipavskyi.
The diplomat noted that in the dossier with the proposal on sanctions, the Czech Republic added evidence of the activities of Medvedchuk and his propaganda network.
– This is not a criminal procedure, but a preventive measure, which is usually based on public information, – he added, refusing to disclose this evidence to media representatives.
Czech sanctions against Medvedchuk
After the exposure of this pro-Russian network, the Czech government recently imposed sanctions against Viktor Medvedchuk , the company Voice of Europe s.r.o., as well as Artem Marchevsky, who is close to him.
The activities of this group go beyond the borders of the Czech Republic, influencing democratic processes in Europe.
After this scandal, on the eve of the June elections to the European Parliament, the deputies are demanding a thorough investigation of Russian influence and punishment for colleagues who embezzled money from the Russian Federation.
