Nuclear weapons in Belarus
Last May, the Minister of Defense of Belarus Viktor Khrenin and the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Serhiy Shoigu signed documents on the placement and storage of non-strategic (tactical) nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus.
On June 9, 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia would begin deploying tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus, and later that year, Lukashenko claimed that the supply of nuclear weapons to Belarus had ended in the fall.
