At the G7 summit, Britain will announce the provision of more than $300 million to Ukraine

Prime Minister of Great Britain Rishi Sunak will announce at the summit of G7 leaders, which will start in Italy on June 13, the provision of a financing package to Ukraine in the amount of 242 million pounds (about $309 million).

As reported on the website of the British government, these 242 million pounds are directed to meet urgent humanitarian, energy and stabilization needs in Ukraine, “as well as to lay the foundation for long-term socio-economic recovery and reconstruction.”

They note that this funding demonstrates the UK’s continued international solidarity with Ukraine and their flexibility in responding to urgent needs caused by Russian aggression.

– The prime minister’s priority at the summit will be to work with partners on agreeing on the method of using frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine, – the message says.

As of now, the value of assets located in G7 jurisdictions is $285 billion.

– We must be decisive and creative in our efforts to support Ukraine and end Putin’s illegal war at this critical moment. The UK remains at the forefront of the international response, as it has been from the start. We must move from “whatever it takes” to “whatever the cost” if we want to end this illegal war, – Sunak said.

The UK has already committed almost £12.7bn to military, humanitarian and economic support for Ukraine and has often been the first to provide vital lethal aid – from Storm Shadow cruise missiles to Challenger 2 tanks.
