The Spanish government has begun transferring a new package of military aid to Ukraine, which will include ten German Leopard tanks, several excavators and a significant number of anti-tank missiles.
This is reported on the website of the Ministry of Defense of Spain.
Before delivery to Ukraine, the tanks underwent technical procedures and comprehensive repairs. They fully correspond to the tasks provided by the combat positions at the front.
The equipment was loaded onto a Spanish ship on Saturday, July 13, and it is expected to arrive by sea in Poland by the end of the week.
— After arrival in Poland, the protected transportation of equipment by land to the place of delivery of the armed forces will begin. All security measures have been observed and they will be strengthened as we approach the contact line, – the press service of the Spanish Ministry of Defense emphasizes.
Military aid from Spain – what is known
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Spain has transferred a total of 20 such tanks to Ukraine.
Madrid plans to prepare or hand over another new kit in the second half of 2024.
