Investigators from the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) had documented war crimes committed by Russian invaders against civilians in Irpin, Kyiv region.
According to the SBI press service, investigators had inspected about 700 hectares of the city (more than 10,000 houses and buildings).
These were primarily residential areas, schools, kindergartens, and hospitals.
SBI emphasized that investigators had established irrefutable evidence of crimes against humanity committed by Russian troops in Irpin. In particular, they discovered 13 burials of civilians.
– These are the use of munitions prohibited by the Geneva Convention, unjustified cruelty, and mass extermination of the population. Also, during the investigation, we had found plenty of Russian weapons and ammunition, military trappings, and documents… Among other things, SBI investigators had found 13 burials of citizens, – informed the department.
Investigators found out that Russian invaders were using various types of prohibited weapons against civilians in residential areas of the city:
-
- anti-personnel mines, tank shells, and multiple rocket launchers “Grad”;
- Iskander-M aero-ballistic missile;
- shrapnel shells equipped with arrow-shaped striking elements.
All facts of Russian war crimes in Irpin are properly documented.
Now the SBI investigative team went to the Sumy region, where together with the police, it also will be recording the crimes of Russia.
According to the Director of the SBI, Olekii Sukhachov, crimes against humanity have no statute of limitations. Therefore, Ukrainian law enforcement agencies and international criminal bodies must not allow Russia to avoid responsibility for war crimes in our country.
