Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmyla Denisova has already received more than 16,000 applications against Ukrainians who went missing during the full-scale war waged by Russia.
Denisova said this in an interview. According to her, reports on the search for missing persons by number are in the first place.
– In the first place – the search for the missing. Then it was something bombed, destroyed. Other issues are humanitarian corridors and aid. But most are a search. We are already looking for more than 16 thousand people, – the ombudsman emphasized.
Denisova clarified that among these 16 thousand – two thousand are soldiers and others are civilians, a quarter of whom are people who disappeared in Mariupol, surrounded by Russian troops.
The ombudsman also commented on the deportation of Ukrainians to Russia. According to her, people are being smuggled across borders where there are no Ukrainian checkpoints. The deportation took place in the Rostov region (according to the Russian Federation, more than 700,000 people crossed the border there), the Belgorod region and the temporarily occupied Crimea.
Denisova said that the Russian invaders were taking Ukrainians to filtration camps in the occupied territories of Donbas and from there to Russia.
– At first they are caught in all places where possible. We have stories that people were sitting in the basement of a bombed-out house, “orcs” were coming, taking them away, almost always without documents. Then they were brought to filtration camps in the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. There they were asked: How do you feel about the “special operation” of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine ? If it’s men. Of course, everyone’s phones are checked. Those that have not been filtered, they are like “natsiki”, as the Russians say. They send them on. After that, we do not know the fate of these people at all, – Denisova informed.
She clarified that the occupiers load the rest of the Ukrainians into buses and transport them to the territory of the Russian Federation.
Commenting on the illegal export of Ukrainian orphans to Russia, Denisova noted that more than 2,000 such children are already known. The ombudsman reminded that Russia wants to pass a law on a simplified procedure for the adoption of Ukrainian children by Russians.
– This is the genocide of the Ukrainian people. Because identity is lost. They teach them in Russian, they want them to follow Russian traditions. There are no children – no future, no Ukrainians, – Denisova stressed.
As of April 14, Lyudmyla Denisova informed that the Russian invaders had forcibly deported more than 790,000 Ukrainian citizens to Russia, including up to 150,000 children.
And on April 24, Denisova said that the Putin regime forcibly deported 915,000 people from Ukraine, including 160,000 children.
