Russian troops mainly control the city of Lyman in the Kramatorsk district of the Donetsk region. At the same time, the Ukrainian military men took up new fortified positions in the Lyman direction.
The head of the Donetsk RMA, Pavlo Kyrylenko, reported it, noting that the Ukrainian military men remain in new fortified positions to deter the enemy.
– Especially hot battles in the Lyman direction. Most of the Lyman is not controlled by the Ukrainian army. As well as the Svitlodarsk direction: there was a regrouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to take fortified positions. The enemy is now on the territory of the Svitlodarsk community, – he explained.
He accented that the Russians are really trying to gain a foothold in this direction because they understand that the Ukrainians on the new frontiers will deter them and, on occasion, counterattack to drive occupiers out of the Lyman community.
Kyrylenko also added that the shellings continue along the entire front line in the Donetsk region. The occupiers are also causing missile strikes and airstrikes on cities relatively far from the front line. These are Bakhmut, Pokrovsk and Kramatorsk.
He explained that Bakhmut is of interest to the Russians because they have a strategic goal of capturing the Luhansk region and then want to move their group across the Lyman due to control of the Bakhmut-Severodonetsk route to attack in the Donetsk direction.
At the same time, in the north of the region, the main targets of the occupiers remain Sloviansk and Kramatorsk.
