Military and political observer of the Information Resistance group Oleksandr Kovalenko told why it is important for Russia to occupy Bakhmut as soon as possible.
Thus, according to him, the fighting and offensive operation of the Russian occupiers have been going on here for more than six months – and this is “a shame for Russia”.
– Because this is a small town, it is not Kyiv, Kharkiv or Kherson. They are trying to suppress it with artillery and concentrate a large number of forces and means. They are trying to bypass the city from the north and south,” Kovalenko explained.
According to him, to this end, the aggressors send to Bakhmut the 1st and 2nd corps of the so-called L/DPR, mercenaries from Wagner’s PMC, League, Redoubt, representatives of criminals who are used as live meat. Mobilized soldiers and artillery are also being redeployed there.
He noted that Bakhmut, Vuhledar and Avdiivka are the so-called buffer of fire control of the Ukrainian army deep into the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region. Therefore, the Russians need to occupy these points to facilitate the transfer of more weapons by rail, because the equipment through the Kerch bridge is not good enough.
