The control system of Western and Soviet warplanes is very different, so two Ukrainian pilots went to the United States to determine the timing and means of possible training.
This was announced on the air by the spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat.
– They (partners, – Ed.) want to understand the level of training of Ukrainian pilots, since the philosophy of managing Soviet equipment is somewhat different from the philosophy of managing Western equipment. I gave an example, even the control handle of Soviet planes, fighters, is in the middle, there (in Western planes, – Ed.) it is on the side. On-board equipment, which must also be understood, how it works, – explained the spokesman.
He noted that not only Ukrainian pilots, but also military engineers who ensure the operation of aviation, must undergo training to master Western aircraft.
