Near Avdiivka (Donetsk region), the Russian command is now throwing more infantry into battle and using drones more actively.
The spokesman of the National Guard of Ukraine, Ruslan Muzychuk, said this on the air of the telethon.
According to him, Avdiivka remains one of the most difficult areas of the front. During the past day, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled more than 10 attacks by Russian troops there.
– These days the enemy uses more infantry to carry out their attacks compared to the previous days when more armored vehicles were used. Then the columns of armored vehicles were broken either at the moment or in the process of advancing, which did not allow enemy infantry units to deploy in combat formations, – noted Muzychuk.
He clarified that due to weather conditions and fairly large losses in armored vehicles, the occupiers began to use more infantry.
In addition, they use a fairly large number of UAVs, in particular FPV drones, to strike Ukrainian positions.
– It is necessary to understand that the tactics used by the enemy in Avdiivka are quite diverse: from the shelling of the city and positions to the use of infantry, – said Muzychuk.
The spokesman emphasized that the city has been defended for a long time thanks to echelon defense. Since 2014, fortified positions and fortifications have been built in the Avdiivka area.
– This allows the Defense Forces to hold the city despite numerous attacks… Avdiivka is being stormed from almost three directions: from the north, south and, in fact, from the east, – Muzychuk added.
Battles near Avdiivka
Russian troops intensified assault operations near Avdiivka on October 10. They constantly bombard the city and use the tactics of meat assaults.
At the same time, the occupiers suffer huge losses. According to British intelligence, within three weeks, Russian troops could lose up to 200 units of armored vehicles and several thousand soldiers during the storming of Avdiivka.
