Ignat told how bad weather affects Russian attacks
The bad weather that covered Ukraine affected the work of enemy aircraft, as well as the ability of the Russian Federation to strike with targeted drones.
Yuriy Ignat, the spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stated this on the air of the national telethon.
According to him, the work of UAVs is affected by the power of the wind, they can simply be blown away.
– If there is a strong wind, then it can have an effect, because it can simply blow away those drones. It has less effect on cruise missiles. A UAV is actually an aircraft that has its own flight characteristics, power, and flight range, so the weather has some influence, – the spokesman said.
Also, sudden temperature drops from minus to plus can lead to icing of the aircraft fuselage. This complicates the work of aviation.
How the weather affects the work of air defense
Ignat noted that bad weather conditions have a negative impact on the work of air defense.
– If anti-aircraft missile systems can easily destroy aircraft, means of air attack of the enemy, i.e. cruise missiles, drones, then for mobile fire groups poor visibility is a very negative factor in terms of the effectiveness of their work, – added the spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The military officer emphasized that tonight was quite calm for Ukraine compared to the previous days.
However, that night “there were times when Kh-59 missiles were used, but it was useless for the enemy.” According to him, there were no drones today because, apparently, the enemy took a break after the large batch they launched the night before last.
