Experts of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) recorded explosions near two Ukrainian nuclear power plants – Khmelnytskyi and Zaporizhzhia.

This was reported by the press service of the agency.

Late in the evening of November 28, the IAEA team monitoring the situation at the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) reported hearing several explosions in the immediate vicinity of the plant for 20 minutes.

It is noted that despite the fact that the plant was not directly affected, this incident showed that all Ukrainian nuclear power plants remain at risk as long as the war continues.

Also, on November 29, at the ZNPP, the IAEA team reported an air alarm at the site, which lasted for about ten minutes. During the alert, the team did not hear any impact and there was no damage on the site. At the same time, during the day, experts continued to hear the sounds of explosions at some distance from the station.

– All nuclear facilities of Ukraine remain vulnerable both directly in the event of a missile hit, and indirectly, if the power supply outside the site is disrupted. The situation with nuclear and physical nuclear security throughout Ukraine remains extremely unstable, – said IAEA Director General Raphael Grossi.

Earlier, the IAEA reported that the occupiers at the ZNPP are putting the 5th power unit into a cold shutdown state due to the leakage of reagents.
