Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov admitted that the counteroffensive did not live up to expectations, but this does not mean that Ukraine will lose the war against Russia.
– In May, every citizen of our country wanted the war to end as soon as possible. There were hopes, but they did not come true. The fact that we have been defending our country for two years is already a big victory, – he said in an interview with the BBC.
According to him, the hopes of Ukrainians were too optimistic, but all “people sometimes make mistakes, you cannot be an excellent person all your life”.
Danilov called the current situation at the front very difficult, noting that old textbooks on war, including NATO, should be sent back to the archives, because there has never been a war like the one in Ukraine in world history.
– I can say for sure that we will not stop. We will continue to fight for our freedom, for our independence, – he assured.
At the same time, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council refused to consider the possibility of ending aid from the United States, because he believes that the truth is on the side of Ukraine.
