We are waiting for spring: Zelenskyy explains when EU negotiations on Ukraine will start
Ukraine has a decision of the European Council that it has been working for all year. It concerns the opening of membership negotiations. In the coming days, the screening process will officially begin to assess Ukrainian legislation for compliance with the EU.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following the 662nd day of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.
– We are preparing to work on a negotiation framework for Ukraine – we expect it in the spring. The negotiation process will not be easy, but the main thing is that historically we have made a decision: Ukraine will always be a part of the common European home,” the Head of State said.
According to him, the Ukrainian side continues to work actively to ensure that the next year will have sufficient financial support programs. This applies to bilateral programs with partners, at the EU level, the process of using and confiscating Russian assets frozen in various jurisdictions.
President Zelenskyy believes that the assets of the terrorist state and its affiliates should be used to support Ukraine and protect lives and people from Russian terror. In his opinion, this will be fair, and the necessary decisions are already being prepared.
Zelenskyy thanked all the leaders who this week have expressed their support for Ukraine’s air defense, soldiers, and defense prospects.
