Fighting for Maryinka continues, it is incorrect to talk about capture and encirclement – Shtupun

Fighting for Maryinka continues, there is no threat of encirclement and complete capture of the city by the occupiers.

Colonel Oleksandr Stupun, spokesman for the joint press center of the Tauride Defense Forces, said this on the air of the United News telethon.

– “Fighting for Maryinka is ongoing, our servicemen are currently within the administrative boundaries of Maryinka. But the city has been completely destroyed, but it is incorrect to talk about the complete capture of Maryinka,” he said.

In addition, Stupun noted that in the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian troops are holding steady, but the threat of encirclement and breakthrough remains.

– But we are pulling up reserves, reformatting, and inflicting losses on the enemy. Every day he loses 300-400 people dead and wounded and a lot of military equipment. Therefore, there is no real threat of encirclement of Maryinka,” he added.

According to him, the enemy is trying to close the gaps and pulls up reserves of equipment, but it is not new, not of the same quality as it was.

– Currently, there may be a column with T-90M Breakthrough, a fairly new Russian vehicle, and a T-62 or some 60-year-old infantry fighting vehicle next to it. The enemy is regularly reinforcing its personnel,” noted Stupun.

Earlier, the occupiers had already claimed that Maryinka was allegedly taken, but according to the commander of the Tavria operational and strategic group of troops, Oleksandr Tarnavsky, it was another provocation by the Russian Federation.
