The first need for Ukraine is to strengthen its air defense, which consists of a complex of aircraft, missiles, air defense platforms and interceptors, and electronic warfare.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said this during the Davos Ukrainian Breakfast and urged the West not to overestimate Russia and its ability to escalate.
He emphasized that if Ukraine defends its skies and drives Russia out of them, it will be in a much stronger position to determine when this war will end with Ukraine’s victory.
– The one who controls the sky controls the end of the war,” the minister said.
The Foreign Minister also said that all discussions that arose among partners regarding assistance to Ukraine eventually ended in positive decisions.
– That is, in the end, you do something, but while you are discussing something every day, someone dies in Ukraine,” he said.
The second need is the use of frozen Russian assets to compensate Ukraine for the damage it has suffered.
What partners need to do for Ukraine
Kuleba called on the partners to urgently do several important things for Ukraine.
First, to bring technical experts to the table and coordinate the activities of the defense industry, as no country, even with the strongest defense industry, can meet the needs of a potential war in other parts of the world and its own security needs alone. This, according to Kuleba, can only be achieved by coordinating efforts, working together and ensuring a certain level of cooperation between defense industries.
– I know it’s very selfish, I know that countries keep their defense industry very close to their hearts. But the way to win is to ensure the sustainability of supply, and the way to ensure the sustainability of supply is your cooperation,” he emphasized.
Secondly, if the world confiscates Russian assets frozen in just three countries – the UK, Luxembourg and Switzerland – it will be enough to rebuild all of Ukraine’s damaged infrastructure: airports, bridges and roads.
And if you give Ukraine 180 billion euros in assets stored in the Euroclear depository in Belgium, it will be enough to buy a lot of weapons and rebuild hospitals and schools.
– Russia has to pay. And we will not be swayed by arguments about legal restrictions or financial rules. When you want to do something, when politicians say we have to do it, bankers and lawyers will unite, they will find a solution because that’s what they are paid for,” he emphasized.
