This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a video address following the 720th day of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.
Situation at the front
– Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi and Defense Minister Umerov have been at the front all day. They have visited all the hot spots of the front. They reported on the situation. They are solving the existing problems – manning the units, strengthening them, and managing them. There will be reinforcement with drones, electronic warfare, and command positions will also be strengthened. There will be a report later,” the Head of State said.
US support
Today, the U.S. Senate took a strategically important vote on a package of continued support for Ukraine, its soldiers, its efforts, and democracy in general.
– This choice is now important not only for Ukraine, but for all nations whose independence is a target for Russian attacks. Planned for the coming years. Putin has never wanted to limit himself to Ukraine alone – his goals are much broader. We need broader solidarity in defense,” the president said.
The next step is the vote of the House of Representatives. In his opinion, it is very important. The President of Ukraine expects the same morally strong choice and a decision that will work for common security.
Renewal of Ukraine’s institutions
The reboot of Ukraine’s institutions, including the Defense Forces and diplomacy, continues. Lieutenant General Yevhen Moysiuk has been appointed Special Envoy to implement international security guarantees for Ukraine and develop the Defense Forces.
– We are creating for Ukraine a fundamentally new system of security relations with the world’s leading countries. Each element of such relations must be fully implemented so that there is no declarative nature. We already have a security agreement with the United Kingdom, and we are preparing new ambitious agreements, and not only with European forces. Every agreement with partners should be implemented as soon as possible,” the President is convinced.
Global Peace Summit
Ukraine continues preparations for the Global Peace Summit, a key security event that has been disrupted by the Russian war.
– Peace always has no alternative and must be just. It is exactly what our people and any people of the world deserve. The aggressor should never win. And I am grateful to everyone who helps Ukraine, our soldiers, and all our people,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
