Production of ammunition has increased in Ukraine – Shmyhal
Ukraine has made significant progress in the production of ammunition. In 2023, the state was able to increase the production of mortar shells by 42 times and artillery shells by more than twice.
This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during a speech at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.
Production of ammunition
– We have made huge progress in the production of ammunition. Last year, we increased the production of mortar shells by 42 times and artillery shells by 2.5 times,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
According to Shmyhal, a new increase in ammunition production is expected in 2024, which will be facilitated by deregulation. In particular, algorithms have been established for the development and acceptance of goods into operation.
– This will attract even more Ukrainian manufacturers to fulfill defense orders. To coordinate the work, the Industrial Defense Committee of Ukraine was established last week,” Shmyhal said.
Supply of shells from the EU
The Prime Minister noted that Ukraine is developing its own defense industry capacities, but needs the support of other countries.
– “We expect the EU to fulfill its promise to supply more than 1 million shells. The EU defense industry is gaining momentum,” the Prime Minister of Ukraine emphasized.
