In an interview with RBC-Ukraine , Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov said that this winter was more peaceful because Ukraine better prepared its defense and focused on key substations, which are much more difficult to restore due to the specifics of the equipment.
– Last year, we urgently built the first level of passive protection at the facilities during the season – gabions, big bags, etc. This season there was already a second level of protection – against drones. I know dozens of cases when this protection worked, – explained the minister of infrastructure.
According to him, the Russian occupiers saw the increased protection, so at the end of winter they updated their tactics and began to use the available fire resources more carefully.
In particular, the Russians began knocking out substations of a lower level in order to cut off the supply of electricity to large enterprises.
Kubrakov explained that there are much more such substations, so they are easier to reconnect and replace, but the protection of these facilities is also being strengthened.
