They were preparing missile attacks on the Kyiv TV tower and units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: Security Service of Ukraine detains FSB agents

The Security Service detained two FSB agents in Kyiv and Odesa. They were preparing missile attacks on military units of the Defense Forces and energy and telecommunications facilities in three regions.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine’s press service.
– “The agents’ special focus was on army units that provide security for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, data on the Defense Forces in Poltava region, as well as the Kyiv TV tower and the capital’s CHP plant,” the statement said.
At first, the attackers tried to identify the locations of Ukrainian troops, and then send the Russians the relevant coordinates to adjust air attacks.
To covertly gather intelligence, one of the agents got a job as a freight forwarder at an Odesa-based company that supplies food to the Defense Forces.
Another suspect collected information about the technical condition of the Kyiv TV tower after it was shelled in March 2022. He also photographed the appearance of one of the thermal power plants that provides electricity and heat to a large part of the capital region.
– According to available data, the aggressor needed this information to make a decision on adjusting repeated or new strikes on the local thermal power plant and TV tower,” the Security Service of Ukraine said.
What punishment does the Russian agent face?
Both offenders were detained red-handed while spying on potential “targets” for the occupiers.
According to the investigation, one of the enemy’s accomplices was a process engineer at a food processing enterprise in Odesa. The other was a 24-year-old Kyiv resident. At the end of January this year, the men were remotely recruited by an FSB officer in Moscow and Moscow region.
Both defendants were notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They face life imprisonment.
Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine detained two Russian FSB agents in Poltava region who were preparing a sabotage at a strategically important Ukrzaliznytsia facility.
