Zelenskyy: Russia is preparing a new offensive in May-June

The Russian army is preparing a new offensive against Ukraine in May or June, but Western countries are not providing enough weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with CBS News.
When will there be a new Russian offensive: Zelenskyy names the time frame
Zelenskyy said that Ukrainian troops managed to hold back the Russian offensive during the worst winter months.
– We have stabilized the situation. It’s better than it was two or three months ago, when we had a big shortage of artillery ammunition and various types of weapons. We did not see a big, huge counteroffensive from Russia at all… They were not successful,” he said.
At the same time, the President of Ukraine admits that the occupiers managed to destroy Ukrainian cities and villages through constant supplies of missiles and shells.
– We did not have shells, artillery shells, many different things,” he said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy says that the Armed Forces of Ukraine need additional weapons before a new Russian offensive. According to him, a new offensive by the Russian army is expected sometime in late May or June.
– And we need not only to prepare for this, we need not only to stabilize the situation, because sometimes our partners are really happy that we have stabilized the situation… No, I’m saying we need help now,” Zelenskyy said of the United States and other Ukrainian allies.
Ukraine needs more artillery
CBS notes that in this artillery war of attrition, Russia has the advantage not only because of its greater number of firepower, but also because of its longer range.
– “In Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Lysychansk, Soledar and so on, it was very difficult to fight an enemy whose artillery shell can fire more than 20 kilometers, and (ours – Ed.) can fire less than 20 kilometers,” he said.
CBS journalists also joined Zelenskyy as he inspected freshly dug underground bunkers in Sumy region, no more than 25 km from the Russian border.
– Usually, when they attack with artillery and destroy villages, they always try to occupy them afterwards. We do not know what will happen tomorrow. So we need to get ready,” he said.
As a reminder, Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Sumy region the day before, on March 27. During his visit to the Sumy region, the head of state, in particular, inspected the fortifications being built along the border.
