Russia is trying to destabilise the internal situation in Ukraine by spreading the idea that it is gathering groups to attack Kharkiv. Such statements are not the only ones, and the enemy is trying to throw Ukrainians off balance by conducting information and psychological operations.

Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, told Vadym Karpiak, host of the United News telethon.

According to him, the intentions of the Russian dictator to seize Kharkiv are Russian information and psychological operations ( PSYOP). In addition to this attempt to destabilise Ukrainian society, the Kremlin is using other methods to undermine the internal situation in Ukraine.

– In parallel with this, other things are happening, such as the Belarusian issue, for example, which has been revived. Or some other issues that the enemy likes to use to stir up panic, particularly within the country. Nothing strategically new has happened in terms of the formation of strike groups,” he says.

The Defence Intelligence representative emphasises that all real threats that can be observed are discussed, explained and analysed not only by Ukrainian officials but also by independent military analysts.

– As for how we should respond, of course, the strengthening of the defence line along the entire direction is going on extremely actively. There are various plans, the command is working on various scenarios. As for the threat of “here and now, tomorrow they will attack” and “we must immediately flee and spread panic”, no, of course, these are Russian PSYOPs,” Yusov said.

Is there a threat to Kharkiv?

Earlier, the head of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, pointed out that Ukrainian defenders are fortifying the territories where Russians could launch an offensive. This is being done by building fortifications there. At the same time, the occupiers’ attempts to advance on Kharkiv would be a serious mistake for Russia, Syrsky said.

In his turn, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov claimed that despite Russia’s regular attacks on the city, neither the authorities nor the military see the need to evacuate the local population.
